Since Your Love

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

Romans 8:14 (NLT)

I found this song on Sunday on Africanism Cosmopolitan and its been playing ever since. I have this on and off love for bands but i really truly like the instrumentals in this song. The words of the song spoke to me. I was trying to understand myself. You know, we learn new things everyday and I was trying to understand why today I didn’t like sharwama and tomorrow I loved it. Yes, this little thing was frustrating me and the wordings of this song gave me so much life. It doesn’t matter if i’m sharwama loving or not as long as I’m in Him. So now, when I’m asked who I am, I know exactly who. I am the righteousness of Christ Jesus who sometimes loves sharwama and sometimes does not. But it does not matter because In Him I have my being, He’s my breath, my life, my everything and I was made by Him for Him. What I eat does not matter as long as Jesus is at the center of my life. A lot of time we meet small distractions that the devil turns to a big deal. The devil is very wicked. This song just reminded me of all that matters. The song is by United Pursuit ft Brandon Hampton (the song is actually playing as I’m typing this). The lyrics?

You are the light
Song of my life
You always lead me
You are the voice inside

You are my love
No one before you
All that I am
Points to You

And I was made by you
I was made for you
I am unfulfilled without full communion

You are the light
Song of my life
You always lead me
You are the voice inside

You are my love
No one before you
All that I am
Longs For You

And I was made by you
I was made for you
I am unfulfilled without full communion

I was made by you
And I was made for you
I am unfulfilled without full communion

Since your love got a hold of me
Since your love got a hold of me
I’m a new creation
I’m forever changed

[Repeat 3x]

I was made by you
I was made for you
I am unfulfilled without full communion

In you, is all I need
You’re my breath, you’re my life, you’re my everything
[Repeat 11x]

My favorite part of the song is that “Since your love got a hold of me” part (it just started playing). This song just gets me really excited. I hope it blesses you as much as it blessed me. God bless you people.

P.S: Speaking of things that excite me, the verse of the month really pumps me. Check it out – Titus 2:7-8. The verse in the Amplified version or the Message translation is a pump.

P.p.s:This is why we are to watch what it is that we watch, listen to and all. The devil uses every opportunity he has to get to us. We should do everything with the leading of the spirit because somethings don’t seem harmful but are killers. When we do things by the leading of the Spirit, we avoid harm and we always get involved with things that give life.

You Will

This week did not come with a song of the week. No song was on repeat. The week passed by too fast sef. I can’t believe it’s already Friday. But worry not boo boos there’s a song of the week. This song however was my jam in January. It’s rap, by Andy Mineo. I heard the cover and downloaded the song. Normally I think covers are better than songs. I love covers. But this song happened to be better than the cover I heard and so was on repeat all January. I even felt bad cos there was nothing like song of the week in January so I thought I won’t ever put up this song but look where we at now!! The lyrics?

When you see me I’m in uptown baby
What you know about me?
Oh, nothin’ really, well let’s change that
See I came back
I took a break, but now I break that
Formerly Known, yeah, I made that
And them Car-Tunez every Saturday
Get your breakfast tell ’em (play that)
Yeah, I got lines like bar codes
Yeah, I got jokes like Bart Simpson on bar phones (Moe’s Tavern)
How you actin’ dumb on your smartphone?
Fishers of men so I stay lookin’
Catch the nets like I’m straight Brooklyn
Oh, your life so hard
Why don’t you face your problems don’t Facebook ’em
Satan try to make the straight crooked with the porn sites
But I ain’t looking
I got bands that’ll make her dance
That’s a wedding ring for my wife, bling
I’mma say that twice, bling
Ladies if you ain’t got one don’t give him none
True love is waiting and you so worth that
I know you heard some bull crap
But if you headed down the wrong path
Go ahead and turn back
You’re never too far to be made new
They said you damaged goods, that ain’t true
I testify to that I ain’t lyin’, Jack
You could check with my whole crew

Y-O-U owe me nothing, no, nothing [x2]
I know you will [x8]

I know you will [x2]
Even when they say you won’t
I know you will [x3]
Even when they say you can’t
I know you will
No, there’s nothing you can’t do
Nothing in this world too big for you
So when they say you can’t
I know you will [x2]
Even when they say you can’t
I know you will

Some say you can’t, I say that you will
My sin, it cost a grip but Jesus paid the bill
You don’t believe in miracles, I show you why they real
Some rappers don’t got skill but somehow they got a deal, weird
I’m ridin’ around in this airport, flyin’ ’round on my skateboard
And my glasses on like a straight dork
Oh, your money tall, but these days short
I love the haters so I pray for ’em
See them hearts we aim for ’em
So I tell the world and we stay tourin’
And we do it our way, we won’t change for ’em
This ain’t no fast food, you can’t order us
They lookin’ so confused, what’s the formula?
We just really want more of God
Nah, we don’t want more of us
Cause He did it, we givin’ Him thanks
Even when they ain’t awardin’ us
And them strip clubs, money drugs
C’mon cuz, you borin’ us
We heard it all before
And I’m still unimpressed with that sort of stuff
We were made for more though
With them award shows and you thank Christ
That lip service don’t mean nothing if you ain’t about that life

Y-O-U owe me nothing, no, nothing [x2]
I know you will [x8]

I know you will [x2]
Even when they say you won’t
I know you will [x3]
Even when they say you can’t
I know you will
No, there’s nothing you can’t do
Nothing in this world too big for you
So when they say you can’t
I know you will [x2]
Even when they say you can’t
I know you will

I really love Andy Mineo. I have his whole Heroes for Sale album. My second favorite song is Uno Uno Seis featuring LeCrae.

What do you guys think about rap? I love love rap and I’m thankful and grateful for Christian rappers. Andy Mineo however does not like being called that (a Christian Rapper). Read his interview here. He says being called a gospel rapper stops non-christians from listening to his music which is the whole purpose of his music. I see his point. That’s why Phos is a lifestyle blog and not a Christian blog. He’s just serving God in his music cos God is supposed to be at the center of it all. What then can we then call him? Rapper? and then call the others contemporary rappers? Or faith based rapper? What do you guys think?

P.s: Listen to these songs with headphones on with the volume turned up to the loudest. You’ll thank me later.

Nani gi

This week’s song of the week is also an old one. For the longest time I knew just the first line of the song and hummed the rest. Last week though, as I was searching for the lyrics of last week’s song of the week, I diverted to Nathaniel Bassey songs (I love Him so much), and then this song popped up. I was like why not? Let me kuku learn the lyrics then I downloaded the song cos singing along is better than singing alone and the song has been on repeat since then. The song is by Mairo Ese. Lyrics you ask? Here they are

Here we’ve come
To worship you
And praise your holy name
There is no one like you Lord
You deserving all our praise
Here we’ve come
To worship you
And praise your holy name
There is no one like you Lord
You deserving all our praise

Chorus:
I bu chimoooooooo
I bu chim
I bu chimoooooooo
Onye nji eme onu
Nani gi bu chimoooo
Onye nwe mooo
Nani gi bu chimoooo
Onye nwe mooo

Creator of it all
Creator of all things
Every knee shall bow
At your feet
And worship and declear
Nani gi bu chim
And you alone are God
Onye nwe mooo
Oh we worship
No other God
No other God but you
In heaven on earth and forever
You alone are God
Oh we worship, from our heart
Jesus, oh how we love you
Oh onye nwem

Byeeeeeerrr!!

P. S. I just realized his name is Mairo and not Mario after all these years. Wow!

In Christ Alone

This song has been on repeat on my phone all week. It’s the song I talked about here that led me to tears (I’m usually hardcore ooo). These are the lyrics to the song and I’ll add a download link because I think the version of the song I have is amazing. It inserted the chorus of that “My Hope is built on nothing less” hymn in it and I just think its really amazing. Okay to the lyrics:

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied –
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain,
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine –
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand:
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.

You can download the song (or hymn, I’m not really sure) here. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Have you heard this song before? Its quite common. What do yo think about it? What song topped your playlist this week?
